BSNL to Develop IPTV Platform in Kolkata

Indian BSNL-Kolkata, also know as CalTel (Calcutta Telephones), plans to invest 300 million Rupees (US$6.7 million; US$1 = 44.5 Rupees) in developing an IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) platform. By April 2007, CalTel is slated to commercially roll out IPTV in Kolkata. CalTel has partnered with US-based UTStarcom for set-top box procurement. The third-party operator in charge of TV signal downlink has not been decided yet.
